Out-of-Zone Enrolments for 2027

The Motueka South School Board has determined that a limited number of places are available for out-of-zone students for the 2027 school year.

NE/Year 1 - 4 places

Year 2 - 2 places

Year 3 - 2 places

Year 4 - 2 places

Year 6 - 2 places.

Applications close: Wednesday 14 October 2026

If the number of applications received exceeds the number of places available, selection will be undertaken in accordance with the priorities and procedures contained within the Motueka South School Enrolment Scheme.

If a ballot is required, it will be held on Wednesday 21 October 2026.

To apply for an out-of-zone place for 2027, email our Acting Principal, Lauretta Haskell - (lhaskell@motuekasouth.school.nz with your childs details (name, DOB, year level) and your home address by Wednesday 14 October 2026.

MSS Enrolment Zone Information 

All students who live within the home zone described below shall be eligible to enrol at the school. The Home Zone includes addresses on both sides of the boundary roads mentioned in the description unless otherwise stated. * 

Starting from the end of Karo Place, the home zone follows: 

• South along Karo Place until Totara Park Avenue o Including Kanuka Place 

• West along Totara Park Avenue until Thorp Street o Including Titoki Place, o Including Kowhai Crescent, o And including Taupata Place 

• South along Thorp Street until Glenaven Drive 

• East along Glenaven Drive until Motueka Quay o Including Claire Place

• South along Motueka Quay until Old Wharf Road

• West along Old Wharf Road until Trewavas Street 

• South along Trewavas Street until Wharf Road 

• West along Wharf Road until High Street o Including Everett Street and all side streets off it, o And including Ward Street 

• South-west along Quayle Street until Wildman Road 

• South along Batchelor Ford Road until the end of Batchelor Ford Road o Including Wildman Road up to, and including, 100 Wildman Road 

• From the end of Batchelor Ford Road jumps south to the Moutere River 

• North-east along the northern bank of the Moutere River until The Coastal Highway (SH 60) 

• North along The Coastal Highway (SH 60) until High Street 

• North along High Street until Courtney Street 

• West along Courtney Street until the end of Courtney Street 

• From the end of Courtney Street jumps south-west to the end of Hau Road 

• West along Hau Road until Queen Victoria Street 

• North along Queen Victoria Street until its intersection with King Edward Street and College Street o Including Thomason Avenue 

• West along College Street until Motueka Valley Highway 

• South along Motueka Valley Highway until Alexander Bluff Road o Including all side streets off Motueka Valley Highway between College Street and Alexander Bluff Road 

• North back along Motueka Valley Highway until College Street

• East along College Street until Queen Victoria Street 

• East along King Edward Street until High Street o Including Queen Victoria Street between College Street and Marchwood Park Road 

• North along High Street until Lowe Street • East along the southern side of Lowe Street until Woodlands Avenue 

• South along Woodlands Avenue until Sanderlane Drive 

• East along Sanderlane Drive until Mohan Street o Including all side streets off Sanderlane Drive 

• East along Monahan Street until Huffam Street 

• South along Huffam Street until Old Wharf Road 

• East along Old Wharf Road until Thorp Street 

• North along Thorp Street until Totara Park Avenue o Including Carman Drive, o And including Royden Place

Applicants may be required to give proof of In Zone address, or proof to support their application if seeking enrolment under the Out of Zone priorities

Out of Zone Enrolments Each year the School Board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following enrolment period(s) for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The Board will publish this information by public notice in a medium appropriate to the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received. Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority: •

 First Priority: is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education 

• Second Priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students. 

• Third Priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students. 

• Fourth Priority: will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school. 

• Fifth Priority: will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school 

• Sixth Priority: will be given to all other applicants.
